A Stock Footage Music Video
|Stock footage can be used for a variety of projects, but a music video is usually not the first thing that comes to mind. This music video uses stock video in a very creative way.

Stock Footage Music Video, directed by Keith Schofield
The music video for the song ‘You Can’t Be My Girl’ by New York indie band Darwin Deez, tells us an overly romanticized love story with almost exclusive use of stock footage. Director Keith Schofield collected a ton of clips of couples in love, then composited the singer of the band, Darwin Smith, into the clips, singing to them. Not always a flawless match, but it works and is actually quite funny.
It’s interesting to see how the images of the somehow ‘perfect’ looking couples get an ironic taste. Not exactly the way that stock footage is usually used, but it shows you that you don’t always have to use these clips as intended.
